
Author Biography
Born in rural Georgia in the late twenties, Juliette Lively Dickey was raised along with twelve siblings on a large but struggling farm. A chance encounter with a recently released World War II solider produced a fifty-four year marriage and five children. Her poetry reflects the close tie she feels with the land and nature as well as an enduring spiritual relationship. The simple pleasure of a walk in the woods, a moment with ?Uncle Socks? and a treatise on manners are among the many varied subjects of her poetry. These poems present interesting family members; co-workers and acquaintances; and other people observed during daily life.
Juliette lives in Ocala, Florida with her husband. Birdfeeders and flowers surround their home in the woods. The mother of five children she was a stay-at-home mother until her children reached high school. When Juliette's husband was stricken at early age with a heart disease she went to work for a state agency maintaining their standard of living. Although her husband has had three open-heart surgeries she continues to have a positive attitude. Juliette started writing poetry in the sunset years of her life creating an aptly title book. Her optimistic spirit and deep faith is revealed in her poetry. Juliette has had her poetry published in several anthologies and magazines as well as church bulletins. Juliette is known as the resident poet of her church congregation and is asked to write poems for special occasions, and to read them, at church gatherings. She is usually on the program for the National Association of Lively Families annual reunion. You will find several types of poetry on her web page.
